Well, yes and no.
It matters what my employer thinks of me if I want to keep my job.
But if my peers wanted me to be someone that I'm not then it would not matter so much what they thought and I would be more comfortable with my own opinion of myself.
Unless you are on American Idol, of course. :-)
There are very few people whose opinion of me matters. No one has walked my walk... I look at it this way, I know & God knows- and that's enough for me.
