Could be a good idea, until the conflict is brought to you!
Like the John Lennon quote - "Give peace a chance" - a great idea - but it only works if everyone does it.
And unfortunately history is full of times when violence is the answer. If you have any doubts - read up on you history of the Nazi's and how the peaceful solutions worked so well there.
Is it always the answer - of course not. But one side that preaches only peace against another desiring conflict - you are going to get conflict.
To put it another way - it is like wine and sewage. Wine is peace and sewage is conflict. If you put a drop of wine in a glass of sewage - you get sewage. If you put a drop of sewage in a glass of wine - you get sewage.
I would choose to experience peace rather than conflict when it comes to people trying to argue with me or give me grief. I can remain calm if I really set my mind to it and I'll be the one walking away from the exchange still feeling good.
I do not, however, think that conflict should be avoided at all costs. I think that a certain measure of conflict is needed in our lives because that would the times when we most experience growth and awareness of who we are. In those times I would choose to embrace the conflict and come out the other side of it wiser and stronger.
Thoughts:
* Be slow to anger.
* Choose your battles carefully.
* Know when to walk away & just let "it" go.
