This really speaks to me in today's society. How many actors, athletes and musicians are given accolades and glory, while the real heroes of our society are ignored nearly all the time?
Your average (and not even talking about those extraordinary ones our there) teacher is more important in the grand scheme of things than whatever romance J-Lo is having or whether or no Paris Hilton deserves to go to jail.
I can't imagine how awful it must be for soldiers who are awarded for acts that they did not feel were brave or heroic and yet they have to live with that.
Reminded me of Saturday Night Fever... when John Travolta gave he & his dance partner's 1st place award to the couple who placed 2nd because he "knew" that they pulled off a better performance.
There is no intrinsic value in being awarded something you feel you did not earn.
(I hope that I'm not confusing movies.)
