Distance is not always a matter of geography.
Culture and language barriers are prime examples of situations where a smile can bring two people together in an instant.
A sincere smile on a crowded street could also make an incredible difference to a total stranger.
Over the past year I have been consciously trying to smile more. It is amazing how many people will smile back, and how it makes you feel just a little bit better each time.
And a belly rub is the shortest distance between a human and a beautiful kitty like me.
