Words may be cheap but, once said, you can never buy them back.
I heard something like that years ago and it has always stuck with me.
I always enjoyed the way this was put forth in "The Phantom Tollbooth", where everyone literally ate their words at the banquet.
Everybody says things they wish they hadn't at one time or another, either out of emotion or ignorance.
It is sad that there is no way to unsay something. Zen has that concept - where when asking a question is itself meaningless, so you can 'unask' the question.
