"Discouragement is simply the despair of wounded self-love."

I think it is easier to blame others for our own mistakes when we are young but as we get older it seems that we become much harder on ourselves and we tend to forgive others much more easily than we do our own mistakes.

Perhaps we could avoid such discouragement and despair if we could just forgive ourselves, learn, ad move on.

A stronger stance is to not allow your own self-love to ever be wounded. No one can do this without our permission, and in fact even then we do it to ourselves.

Re: what P. wrote...

We can not rely on others to make us happy, but we sure can ALLOW them to make us miserable.
