"America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own."

John Quincy Adams (1767 - 1848)

That's who she used to be.

We've moved away from our isolationist stance and now have irons in all the wrong fires.

I have mixed feelings about our involvement in other countries. We should continue doing humanitarian work but is it really our place to shove democracy down everyone else's throat, too?

In theory... in reality?

"... first remove the speck from your own eye."

Yesterdays quote fits in with this one. There are those out there who do not wish us well.

America is at war, and has been for many years. We have been attacked time and again, both on our own soil, in our embassies, and the american people abroad.

I am afraid that it is going to take things getting a lot worse before people truly realize this.

How many times must we be hit before we strike back, and how hard?
