Quitters and whiners are prime examples of individuals who lack gumption.
What a great word this is!
Wonderful circular definitions - and as such are meaningless.
Just like the justice who said they can't define pornography, but they know it when they see it.
A mystical quality you have or don't - what, like the force in Star Wars?
I won't try to define it. Instead I prefer things like honor, and character, and personal accountability. Courage and responsibility.
Leave gumption and grit to the John Wayne movies.
