"The most I can do for my friend is simply to be his friend."

Sometimes all you can do for a friend is to be there and be supportive as he/she works through a problem in life.

Other times a person has to step in and do or say something to let a friend know that something isn't right. We don't make our friends' moral decisions for them but we can help them to know when they are crossing a societal boundary that could lead to legal problems.

A person should not let a friend try to drive home while intoxicated.

Sometimes, there is nothing anyone can say, or do. All they can do is simply be there & listen.

I do believe that true friends "know each other by heart".
