I have told this to my children many times.
The Law of Attraction roughly paraphrased is that like attracts like: kindness will attract other kindness, honesty will attract other honesty, responsibility will attract other responsibility.
If you BE the kind of friend that you would like to have then you are more likely to attract that kind of person to you.
On friendships... "... what you choose to do with them is up to you."
As with most things in life, consequences generally follow.
