Why does this seem so hard to do?

I wonder if there is a connection between the sharp rise in mental health diagnoses and a loss of personal identity.

It would seem that some kind of cognitive distortion would arise if a person is living a life that is not authentic to their personal beliefs and values.

It isn't the loss of personal identity that is such a problem in today's society - it is the loss of connection to others. It is amazing how, when we have more ways to connect and communicate with each other than ever before in all of history, that we are now more alone than ever before.

I don't buy the "it takes a village to raise a chile" crap (which is to me yet another way of shifting peronal responsibility - it takes a parent to raise a child) but a village is sure a nice place to get and keep your connection to the human race.

To the extent that we are capable, we are responsible for ourselves; our attitudes, behaviors, & lives. There really is no one else to "finger" for our choices. Lift "that" burden from others.

"Be kind to others true to yourself."
