The 'somehow' part bothers me - I think that some people never truly learn (or better remember, because at one point we all know who we are, we just forget based on all that happens to us).
The phrase, "Life's tough wear a helmet" comes to mind. There are times when we tend to take on "an attitude" as a way to make it through difficult circumstances.
But should we discover the core of us to be the best part of us... we should NEVER EVER let ANYONE nor ANY CIRCUMSTANCE contaminate that part of us.
We have to look to the compass on the inside to know what direction to move towards on the outside.
