While not quite the same, this reminds me of a quote from Malcolm Forbes, when asked to what he attributed his success:
"Hard work, dilligence, and being born to an extremely rich father."

Luck is really just hard work in disguise.
I mostly agree... I do believe in OCCASSIONAL serendipity &/or being in the right place at the right time.
