Active ignorance takes an actual energy and desire to NOT learn or change opinions on obviously outdated ideas as opposed to passive ignorance which just doesn't know any better.

I tend to see issues like racism, bigotry, prejudice, and discrimination as forms of active ignorance and I think that, at some point, even upbringing is no excuse.

We have to be responsible for our beliefs and our actions.

What is the difference between ignorance and apathy?

I don't know, and I don't care.

Active ignorance is both - but I think the apathy part is worse.
