"Nothing is worse than active ignorance."

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 - 1832)

Active ignorance takes an actual energy and desire to NOT learn or change opinions on obviously outdated ideas as opposed to passive ignorance which just doesn't know any better.

I tend to see issues like racism, bigotry, prejudice, and discrimination as forms of active ignorance and I think that, at some point, even upbringing is no excuse.

We have to be responsible for our beliefs and our actions.

It's hard to learn or know something when approached with an open mouth and a closed mind.

Active ignorance is a choice that we make. Here are some Proverbs I'd like to share:

"A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions."

"He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who cherishes understanding prospers."

What is the difference between ignorance and apathy?

I don't know, and I don't care.

Active ignorance is both - but I think the apathy part is worse.
