I like the similar quote that it is the ability to tell someone to go to hell, and have them look forward to the trip!
I tend to think of charm as a NATURAL and attractive quality. An admirable asset so long as it is not used in a manipulative manner.
Charm is not always charming.
Used car salesmen and snake oil peddlers, for example.
